About JME the Dream
Singer-songwriter Jamie Mata, professionally known as JME the Dream, creates melodic hits that fuse smooth R&B vocals with Hip Hop rhymes tied together with a Latin flare. Her up-and-coming EP is meant to cater to the Spanish demographic and showcase more of her Mexican American roots.
BACKGROUND
Born and raised in the South Texas City of Corpus Christi- from the same neighborhood as the late Selena Quintanilla, JME was influenced by her strong vocals, stage presence, and genre-bending sound. At the age of 4 years old, Jamie knew that her dream was to become an artist. She would perform at family weddings and events without an ounce of hesitation but due to her upbringing as a Jehovah’s Witness, she was not able to take her talents as far as she would have liked. For many years the idea of using her voice creatively seemed impossible but her desire to be a part of the entertainment industry did not dwindle. She attended Del Mar College and received an Associate’s Degree in Radio & Television Production. During this time, she was active in the local film community as an actor, director, producer, and editor but her dream to create music was still alive.
DISCOGRAPHY
In 2020, Jamie was introduced to local artists YNG Bishop and Monroe Amari recording for the first time at Bayside Studios. The group started creating and performing music together through the spring and summer of 2021. This fueled Jamie to finally release her first single “Indica Baby” on April 20, 2022. On a whim, she recorded the track ft. LOVEZAYY, shot the video and edited it herself within 72 hours in order to drop by 420. The positive reception forced her to shed any reservations she had about becoming a star.
That summer, she followed up with the release of “X on Ocean” a seductively hypnotizing track that showcased her velvety vocals over a dark trap soul beat. Her latest track “Feelin Blui,” demonstrates her ability to shift genres and create a catchy pop hit that is sure to get stuck in your head.
Currently, Jamie is busy at work creating more music focused on catering to the ever-growing Latin demographic. As a Spanish speaker, she plans on dropping a bilingual EP this summer.
